| Our Vision |
All
women in the northern region have voice, choice and power in
all aspects of their health and wellbeing.
| Our Mission |
•
Advocate - advocate fearlessly and strategically with and on behalf of
women to Governments, organisations and communities to drive social,
economic and environmental change that removes the barriers to health
and wellbeing.
•
Enable
- enable women to effect change in their own lives and in their
society; and enable organisations to be leaders in developing effective
programs, policies and practice that improve women's health and
wellbeing.
•
Mediate - build and promote strong collabrative parnerships to drive
improvements in women's health and wellbeing.
•
Embody - live our values as an organisation.
| Our Values |
• Passion,
Commitment and Integrity - we work with passion, commitment and
integrity and a sense of urgency towards the creation of a just and
equitable society.
• A Feminist
Perspective - we work from a feminist position that values all women,
listens to their voices, learns from their experience, supports their
choices and seeks to understand and change the structural causes of
inequality in our society.
• A Social Model of
Health - we believe that in order for health gains to occur, social,
economic and environmental determinants must be addressed and that this
requires action beyond the 'health' sector. (These determinants include
physical environments, shelter, food and water supply, employment,
education, social connectedness, socio-economic status, culture, gender
and peace/conflict/violence.)
• The Celebration of Diversity - we celebrate diversity in all its forms.
• Support for
Innovation and Challenge - we promote innovation, we challenge
ourselves and others, and we are open to challenge from others.
• A Focus on Health
Promotion - we work within the framework articulated by the Ottawa
Charter for Health Promotion that defines health promotion as 'the
process of enabling people to increase control over, and to improve,
their health'. Thus we recognise the interconnectedness of the social,
economic and environmental determinants of health and work to empower
women to bring about change, gain full human rights and equity of
access and opportunity.
