Women
in Melbourne's North:
A Data Book for Program & Service Planning in Health - 2005
|
|
|
This resource, the
only one
of its kind
for the northern region, draws on a range of sources, including the
2001 Census of Population and Housing, the VicHealth study on the
health costs of violence against women, and the Australian Longitudinal
Study on Women's Health. It is the result of
systematic
collection and analysis of available data about women in the local
government areas of Banyule, Darebin, Hume, Moreland, Nillumbik,
Whittlesea and Yarra. It brings together information about
women's lives in a way that supports planners and policy makers in
health and program and service delivery. The 'Data Book'
highlights the need for specific responses to improve the
health
and wellbeing outcomes for women in the region. For a copy of
this resource write to info@whin.org.au.
The resource is free of charge, however, a small postage and handling
fee
applies. |

Postnatal Depression
in
Whittlesea – A
Discussion Paper - 2003 |
| |
|
This discussion paper
investigates and
examines information about postnatal depression and the scope of the
issue in the city fringe area of Whittlesea. The discussion paper is
divided into two parts. Part One, ‘Theoretical
Frameworks’, presents
the definition, incidence, prevalence, identification,
treatment and prevention of postnatal depression. Two competing
viewpoints are included: the disease model of maternal depression and
the social model of maternal depression. Part Two, ‘Models of
Care’,
focuses on Whittlesea, beginning with a demographic profile then a
discussion of services and programs that currently support mothers
experiencing depression. WHIN completed this project for the
Northern Central Metro Primary Care Partnership.
